Day 1 - Friday to Joliet illinois
I didn't get much sleep. Packed my bike, and left around 6:45am. The plan was to meet Mike and Mary from Buffalo at Joliet IL. Crossed the Delaware river on route 80 and what do you know.....traffic jam argh!!!!!
Well after penguin walking for a mile, a driver to the right of me compliments my bike. After he asks where I was going, I said "Yellowstone". He replies that is awesome, he was there years ago. He wishes me safe travels and I noticed the huge grin!!! Man that felt great!!!
After crossing the PA /'Ohio border I get off and call mike and Mary. To my surprise they are eating lunch aprox 100 miles west of me!!!
I put on my rain gear quickly and continue on without delay. Hit some rain, but that is not the issue....50mph speed limit....what? I'm sorry but I can't do that....no wonder I was passing everybody...because I was making great time.
Now while we were stopping along the way, we were txt each other to see where we were. Now being from Jersey, I was providing mile marker / exit # with the state I was in. I get "in Indiana"...!!?????!!!
Oh boy....lol. Anyway I arrive in Illinois look at my txt msgs and see "we are checking in at Lansing Il".......huh?????!!!!.... I just passed that 30 minutes ago???? How in the world did I pass mike and Mary??!!?? Lol
We talk and tell them "I'm off exit 149b"....So the waiting begins and finally we meet!!!!
It was great to see my friends again!!! The mods to Mary's Heritage looks so amazing!!! we ride together to Joliet and check in.....799.5 miles in 12 hours not bad to a start of an awesome bike trip!!!!!

it's almost here!!!!
One thing that I will enjoy during the trip is my new iPhone. Looking forward to video chatting with the family and updating everybody in facebook. BTW, I have to see if there is an app for Blogger, perhaps I could post right from my iphone.
I'm really looking forward to this trip. Can't wait to see Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons, and the Badlands, and....well I'll stop there, lol.

Bluetooth!?!?! Why can't I use my stock CB!!!
Now my buddy, Mr. Mike, bought bluetooth headsets so he and his wife, who also rides, can communicate B2B during the trip. Ok, that makes sense, you may want to communicate that there's a hazard coming up to the rest of the group, you need a bathroom break, or tell me that my radio is too loud :p
Now the Road Glide comes with a standard CB radio. It even came with headsets and everything, but you would think that these bluetooth companies would at least allow you to use the stock CB with their wireless headsets. I know, I know, they have to make $$. I have to buy THIER headset so I can at least talk to my buddies. Why can't they at the very least, have an accessory that I can plug in to my CB so it can be paired with their headsets.
Am I going to buy one, reluctantly most likely, as I see the Sena device is not compatible with the Scala as well.
Am I losing some of the motorcycle experience, yeah I am, but at least I'll get to annoy Mr Mike during the entire two week trip, and that is going to be priceless :D
Proposed mods for the big trip
I wanted to at least go for a ride, but no need to go out in this weather unless I have to. So what did I do today.....surf. Surf the net to see what mods I can install on my bike for the trip.
Matt called this afternoon. He got my heritage style bars. He's going to give it to me at work tomorrow. I gave him my stock saddlebag supports (I installed bag guards on my RG Ultra a few weeks ago) as he wanted the "clean" look on his Road King. So last weekend we installed my ol' supports on his bike. He rode off a happy man.
Now that I'm getting the bars, it is time to start my mods. First I got to order some heated grips. Decided on the Harley Contoured Chrome and Rubber grips. Matches the crested bar & shield logo collection items I've already installed on the bike.
